Heads up, everyone! The Russian River Campground is closing for nearly a year, from August 1, 2022 through June 2023. The closure will prohibit your access to fish the Russian River through the campground, as well as prohibit access to Russian River Falls, Lower Russian Lake, and the Barber Cabin via the campground road and Lower Russian Lakes Trail.
How will this impact my vacation/recreation, you ask? If you want to fish the Russian River, you will have to access it via the Kenai/Russian River ferry and then walk upstream from the confluence area. You won’t be able to access the Russian River from the campground or Lower Russian Lakes trail. Any trips to recreation areas along the Russian Lakes trail will have to be accessed from the Upper Russian side of the Russian Lakes trail, via the trailhead off Snug Harbor Rd. The closure of the campground and access road will add a considerable hike to get down to Barber Cabin/Lower Russian Lake, so plan your cabin trips accordingly.
If you need a cheap and easy campsite in Cooper Landing, have no fear! Book your campsite with us at our Float-n-Fish campground and avoid the hassle.
